Freeport lieutenant named 2024 Firefighter of the Year

Lieutenant Petros Mestheneas, a volunteer with the Freeport Fire Department, has honored by the Firefighters Association of the state of New York by being named the 2024 Firefighter of the Year
Mestheneas was honored for his heroic efforts in rescuing two firefighters last year, who ended up trapped inside ambulance parking garage that went up in flames in a massive five-alarm fire.
