NYPD: Officer killed in an early morning hit and run crash on the Long Island Expressway

East Farmingdale, NY-  A 14 year veteran of the NYPD died early Tuesday morning in a hit and run crash on the Long Island Expressway.  Officials say the officer Anastasios Taskos, 43, of East Northport, was on Highway Patrol, at the time of the deadly crash.  Police say Taskos, had been diverting traffic off the L.I.E because of an earlier accident, when he was struck just after midnight, by an intoxicated hit and run driver.  Taskos, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Police have identified the driver as Jessica Beauvais, 32, of 8 Myrtle Avenue, Hempstead.  Beauvais, is facing charges including but not limited to, two counts of Vehicular Manslaughter, Reckless Endangerment, DWI, Reckless Driving and Driving without a License.  Taskos, is survived by his wife and two children, a six-year-old daughter and a three-year-old son.
