(East Farmingdale, NY) Have you heard about the Excelsior Pass? No, its not that thing you get yearly to get into the beach, that’s the Empire Pass and yes, I was confused about this as well. The Excelsior Pass, is a pilot program announced by New York State and developed in partnership with IBM to verify if an person has either tested negative for COVID-19 or been vaccinated for the coronavirus. Under new guidelines issued by New York State, a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours is required for entry into a large performance venue. The Excelsior Pass has been created for individuals to easily prove they’ve been tested or vaccinated and for venues to easily access the information. A press release from New York State says the Excelsior Pass will create a QR code that venues can quickly scan to verify an attendees covid information. The QR code could be printed or stored on a mobile device. The program has been tested at sporting events held at the Barclay’s Center and at Madison Square Garden.
