(East Farmingdale, NY) If all goes as planned, sometime soon, the water quality of Long Island Sound, could be a lot cleaner. The Environmental Protection Agency, on Monday announced over 20 grants to improve the water quality of the Long Island Sound. The EPA says the grants, totaling $2.8 million dollars “were matched by $2.3 from the grantees, resulting in $5.1 million in funding for conservation around the Long Island Sound watershed”.
