Long Island and the rest of New York state are keeping beaches, parks, pools, campgrounds and other attractions open through the month of September.
Lifeguards will also be kept on-duty through the end of the month.
The decision was made due to summer activities being cut short by the pandemic.
“We’re encouraging people to go to the parks – canoeing, kayaking, we have all of these amazing recreational opportunities for people,” says Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone
