Some U.S. flags at Nassau county buildings have not been at half-staff in honor of President Carter.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman released a statement on Sunday saying the flags in Nassau County will be at half-staff for President Carter from the commencement of Lying in State on January 7th through burial on January 9th.
Gov. Hochul directed flags in New York State to be flown at half-staff since Carter died on Dec. 29, and they are to remain so through Jan. 28, following the traditional 30 days of mourning.
Suffolk County officials say their flags have been lowered to half-staff since Dec. 30 and will remain so.
Carter’s state funeral began Saturday in the state of Georgia.The White House says his official funeral will be Jan. 9 in Washington, D.C.
