The Nassau County Planning Commission voted unanimously Thursday to recommend the operational lease for the Nassau Hub, including the Nassau Coliseum, is transferred to Las Vegas Sands.
Sands intends to apply for a commercial gaming license to build a casino on the site. The 42-year lease to operate the Coliseum, including booking events and maintaining the property, without the right to develop on the site.
A vote on the lease by legislative committees is expected on Monday.
