Belllport, NY- A Long Island teenager was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly posted threats online about a mass shooting. Suffolk County Police say they got multiple 911 calls about a 16-year-old male who had posted on his Instagram story threatening to commit a mass shooting in Bellport. Officials say Computer Crimes detectives along with Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers arrested the teenager at his home just before 8pm. The teenager who’s name is currently being withheld was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat and Aggravated Harassment.
Suffolk County Police were unable to provide more information about the threats at this time and say the Commissioner will hold a press conference later today.
