East Farmingdale, NY- Big changes are coming to how police in Suffolk County handle things like catching a driver, with a broken tail light. On Thursday, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announced a new program in which police will give drivers vouchers to pay for some repairs, instead of tickets. Some of the violations that would qualify for a voucher include; broken head or tail lights, brake lights and turn signal lights. The vouchers will be worth up to $250 and can be used at participating mechanics. The program is currently being funded by a grant and a donation and scheduled to begin this June.
