BOSTON (AP) — If you own an Apple device and see an alert to update the operating software, you might want to hop to it. The company has released a critical software patch to fix a security vulnerability that researchers say could let hackers infect iPhones and iPads without any user action. Researchers at the University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab say the security issue has been exploited to plant spyware on a Saudi activist’s iPhone. The group says it’s pretty sure Israel’s NSO Group was behind the attack.
