Southampton Town brings wellness visits to Seniors amid pandemic closures

The Southampton Town Community Center is still closed because of COVID-19, but that’s not stopping the staff from keeping in touch.  Southampton Town staff took the Community Shuttle on the road to bring wellness checks to some seniors.  Senior Services Director Liz Dwyer said, “It’s a great way for us to check up on them during the pandemic,” adding “they’re like family to us and we haven’t seen them in months! So we thought this would be a nice treat for them if we planned a quick visit with some home baked treats from the kitchen staff.”  Many of the seniors receive home delivered meals from the Town’s nutrition program but the seniors miss the social interaction. One senior displayed a sign on her home to welcome the drive-by. The sign read: “I love and miss all of you. Hugs and Kisses”.  The Southampton Town Community Center also offers yoga for seniors and a weekly newsletter.
