Suffolk County Police last night arrested six people during a New York State Liquor Authority Inspection at an Amityville deli. First Precinct Crime Section officers, in conjunction with First Precinct Community Support Unit, First Precinct Patrol officers, Town of Babylon Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety, Town of Babylon Fire Marshal, Town of Babylon Building Inspector, and the Town of Babylon Code Enforcement officials conducted a SLA Inspection at Los Primitos Deli & Grocery, located at 225 Albany Ave., at 10:18 p.m.
First Precinct officers arrested four men and two women for the following:
- Maria R. Bonilla, 45, from Mastic Beach, a manager of deli, was charged with Promoting Gambling, a Class A Misdemeanor; Possession of Gambling Devices, a Class A Misdemeanor; three counts of ABC Law Off Premise Beer/Allowing Consumption of Beer on Premise, an Unclassified Misdemeanor; two counts of ABC Law Disorderly Premise, an Unclassified Misdemeanor; ABC Law No Gambling on Premises, an Unclassified Misdemeanor; and ABC Law Prohibited Sale, an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
- Modesto Hernandez, 65, from Copiague, a patron of the deli, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, (cocaine), a Class D Felony.
- Leny Gomez, 34, from Amityville, a patron of the deli, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree (cocaine), a Class A Misdemeanor.
- Edgar Garcia, 36, from Amityville, a patron of the deli, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree (cocaine), a Class A Misdemeanor.
- Sarbelio Alexander Bautistanieto, 28, from Amityville, a patron of the deli, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree (cocaine), a Class A Misdemeanor.
- Edwin Melara, 42, from Massapequa, a patron of the deli, was charged with a warrant.
The Town of Babylon Quality of Life Task Force issued 29 building, fire and code violations to the manager. As a result of the violations, the establishment was condemned and closed.
