Today marks the 65th Anniversary for Disneyland. The icon for the park is Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. The park opened 4 years before the movie came out! Walt Disney used it as a marketing strategy to promote the movie… nobody knew what the castle was the first few years the park was open! Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland is the only Disney castle whose construction was overseen by Walt himself. This is the oldest of the Disney castles aka the Original and it is also the smallest at 77 feet…. Cinderella’s castle in Walt Disney World is 189 feet tall. Some of the attractions on opening day of Disneyland were Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, The Jungle Cruise, Snow White’s Scary Adventure, The Mad Tea Party, The Disneyland Railroad and my personal favorite Peter Pan’s Flight.
