Mariah Carey revealed to “People” magazine that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The 48 year old said she was hospitalized back in 2001 after suffering from a physical and mental breakdown, which is when she was diagnosed. She said she “lived in denial” and “didn’t want to believe it” until recently. She has finally gone for treatment and therapy and is taking medication following a rough couple of years, including her broken engagement to James Packer. Why is she first sharing her diagnosis publicly now? Mariah explained, “I’m just in a really good place right now…I’m hopeful we can get to a place where the sigma is lifted from people going through anything alone. It can be incredibly isolating. It does not have to define you and I refuse to allow it to define me or control me.” She also shared that she’s back in studio working on a new album.
Gwen Stefani told Ellen DeGeneres she wants to marry Blake Shelton! When Ellen asked her if they were planning a wedding, she responded, “I love weddings, the kids love him. We love him. Everybody loves him. He’s lovable…I do. I think about it all the time.” Gwen was previously married to Gavin Rossdale, and Blake was previously married to Miranda Lambert.
Meantime, Gwen officially announced that she will headline her own residency show in Las Vegas! “Just A Girl” will kick off June 27th at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The 48 year old said, “To be able to do a show in Vegas is such an incredible honor…I have been so fortunate to tour throughout my career, but to create a show for Vegas is something I’ve never experienced and I can’t wait.” Tickets go on sale Friday.
The next Comedy Central roast will “honor” Bruce Willis. The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis will tape this summer in L.A. An air date will be announced soon. The action stars says, “This ain’t the first time I’ll be tied to a chair and held hostage by a group of humorless [jerks] for a couple hours.” Justin Bieber, Pamela Anderson, Rob Lowe and Charlie Sheen were some of the recent victims of the roast.
Seth Meyers had quite the dramatic story of how he actually helped deliver his newborn son in the lobby of their Manhattan apartment building! Little newborn Axel couldn’t wait to get to the hospital, and Seth’s wife, Alexi, gave birth Sunday in their building’s lobby with the help of neighbors, a door man, and the New York City Fire Department. Axel joins big brother, two year old Ashe.
Did you know Maren Morris was rejected from both “American Idol” and “The Voice” years ago? Looking back on it, she told “Rolling Stone,” “I think about all of the freaking talent shows I’ve tried out for in my life and I’m so glad I didn’t make any of them…I’m happier for it now.” The 28 year old, who just celebrated her birthday yesterday, is now a Grammy winner (for Best Solo Country Performance) with a ton of hits under her belt, including “The Middle” with Zedd. And she’s touring with Niall Horan this summer! They stop at Jones Beach September 12th.
